CAD

At Linear Motion, we have our own in-house design capabilities, using the latest VISI 3D CAD software and DFM techniques to further resolve your design concept, and to produce working parametric models and engineering drawings to BS8888.

Single and Multi-component assemblies, animations and renderings can be created that enable you to assess the design completely before continuing to the next phase of production. Once the design is complete, the CAD model is used to generate the cutting toolpaths though our VISI Machining Strategies software. This ensures that the final product matches the design precisely, and if machined on our CNC Machining and Turning Centres, machining times can be closely calculated to give the most competitive quotations.

Precision Turning

Our CNC centre lathes are capable of machining up to 300mm diameters whilst our conventional lathes can machine up to 550mm. Diameters of up to 1320mm can be turned on our vertical borers. We also offer trepanning, internal and external screw thread cutting, drilling, grooving and knurling.

Our understanding of machining materials gives us the edge when manufacturing customers components for industries as diverse as petrochemical, water treatment and white goods. We work with materials as diverse as carbon steels, specialist stainless steels, non-ferrous materials such as brass, copper and aluminium, as well as nylon and other polymers.

From large Inconel flanges to small PTFE washers, Linear Motion gives the same care and level of engineering diligence to every component we manufacture.

Precision Milling, Drilling & Grinding

Linear Motion is proud that every component we manufacture has the same passion and expertise given to it throughout its manufacturing journey, irrespective of whether it is the production of a 1-off prototype, small limited batch, or part of a much larger volume requirement.

From small, intricate port blocks for the water treatment industry, to machined valve bodies and large bolts & flanges for the petrochemical industry, our precision milling, drilling and grinding machines have the capability and capacity to machine components in a range of materials to the exact tolerances you require.

Linear Bar & Accessories

We are able to supply hardened and ground linear shafts in various lengths and diameters both in solid, hollow or stainless bar, from our extensive stock.

At Linear Motion, we pride ourselves on our in-house engineering capabilities. It is these capabilities, combined with our knowledge and expertise that enables us to machine your linear shaft requirements to your exact specifications: internal and external threads, grooves, drilled and tapped holes, milled or ground flats and keyways.
